Abstract and Fine Art Overlay

Abstract and Fine Art Overlay

Saturday 06 July
E Park Parade, Leeds - 10am - 2 Hours
Rachael Lorenza
A unique blend of abstract with fine art overlay using bold pattern wallpaper samples for inspiration.

Abstract art is art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of visual reality but instead uses shapes, colours, forms, and gestural marks to achieve its effect. This class invites participants to explore the process of abstraction using an object, issue or idea as the source of inspiration.

REVIEWS
I thought the actual class was very good. Regarding the arrangements, there was some confusion over the venue which left us running between the library on Headrow and the Leeds Library on Commercial Street. In the end we ended up doing the workshop in Starbucks. Despite this the facilitator was unfazed.

Be kind..the message says what it needs to..we all need to be kinder to one another.. This is my newfound love for collage in my mixed media paintings. I feel closer to my roots of being a graphic designer when I am combining collages with other art materials.. I love vintage and new papers, some of which I create myself with a gelli plate or other methods.

Title or Location: An acrylic painting I did from a photo of Liam G, taken in 1996 for Knebworth
This is a painting of Liam done for my son, who is inspired by Liam's music. I was watching an interview with Liam this week and he said if he could meet anyone to discuss life and music, it would be John Lennon. Don't blame him there. 'Imagine' that!

My late husband and I first heard the bittern in St Aidens quite a few years ago. We had never heard that noise before and wondered what on earth it was until someone told us. We found a photo of the bittern and, going back, tried to see one, but never did. Moving on some years I have moved to Methley near St Aidens but have still not seen one. Instead I decided to paint one, trying to capture the secretive nature of the bittern.Oil on canvas

This old farmyard barn is located to the North of Tideswell in a hamlet called Wheston. There are miles of old stone walls, wild flower borders where I loved the contrast between the grasses and flowers. Birds and bees were going about their busy day and managed to capture the early Summer. by Jane Walsh House and property portraits

I began painting with acrylic paint during lockdown and just love using lots of colour. My landscapes are vibrant and uplifting. I moved next to Springburn park nearly 3 years ago. I spend a lot of time there walking with my dogs. It is a very special place for me.

My son took a photo looking down at his wife from the balcony at Miramont Castle in Colorado Springs. He loved the light in the photo and asked me to draw it. I gave the finished drawing to him on Father's Day. He is a first time Dad with a beautiful 5 month old daughter. I am honored that you like the drawing. Drawn on Pastel mat using Faber Castell pastel pencils and Rembrandt soft pastels.

Title or Location: Space
The untouched beauty of space can only be seen with high powered telescopes usually beyond the reach of most people yet we are graced with photographs sent back from our Hubble Telescope for us all to marvel. My entire body fills with unconditional awe at the majesty that surrounds us and capturing it on canvas has become my greatest aspiration. I cannot explain the feelings experienced while painting outside of one word - spiritual.
